Berry Sweet

Today I took all three boys strawberry picking with our Moms Club. I brought two strollers and had all of the essentials packed perfectly until they told me that we had to take a hayride up to the field for picking and they couldn’t accommodate any strollers! I convinced them to let me take at least one stroller for Jonah and Samuel since I wasn’t an octopus and needed at least one free hand for picking. When we loaded up onto the hay wagon we loaded the stroller first, then Wyatt, and then I handed Jonah to one of the Moms in the hay wagon and climbed up myself with Sammy and off we went. It was then that I talked to the woman holding Jonah. I introduced myself to her and welcomed her to the Moms Club since she was new and I hadn’t met her yet…it was then that she told me that she wasn’t part of the Moms Club, but just happened to be on the same hayride as us. Imagine my embarrassment…I just handed my baby to some random woman and she never even said anything or asked any questions. It turns out that she had 7 year old twins (girl/boy) and another girl 18 months older than the twins. Her older girl happened to have the same birthday as Wyatt too! Too funny! By the time that we got up to the field it was about 20 minutes until the boys were due to drink their milk, so you can imagine the serenade that the entire field heard from Jonah and Samuel. It must have been bad because I got offers from at least 5 strangers to hold or feed the twins. I simply replied “If it’s not 11:30, then it’s not time for them to eat yet, but thanks anyway” to which most people looked at me like I had two hooves and was holding a pitchfork! Oh well….the mom with the twins just kept smiling and laughing as we rolled our eyes at each other because we knew…crying is part of the program. Some of the moms from the ACTUAL Moms Club helped me feed the boys lunch at the little cafĂ© in the market and I even got a little light grocery shopping done including a caramel apple coffee cake for dessert tonight (I invited the neighbors tonight since they are moving Friday) yum yum! The strawberries taste excellent….much better than the ones from the grocery store…yet not good enough to attempt to go strawberry picking again anytime soon!
