Tiny Toes

I took the boys shoe shopping today. Jonah and Sammy needed real shoes with rubber soles that they can wear outside if they ever quit crawling. Jonah walks about 40% of the time and crawls about 60% of the time and Sammy crawls 99.9% of the time and pulls himself up on furniture and cruises along .1% of the time. So I spend a total of $35 for shoes that will be used 40.1% of the time. Of course $35 also covered the 20 minutes of time that the salesperson at Stride Rite needed to measure everyone's feet (because feet measuring is really scary requiring tears and a loss of lower body function rendering it impossible to stand on a piece of metal for 5 seconds) and the 20 minutes that she probably spent after we left the store picking up shoe boxes and finding matching pairs to put back inside. (For the record...I tried to put all of the shoes and boxes back before I left, but they were coming off the shelves faster than I could put them back so we opted to cut our loses and leave!) Here is the amazing part! Jonah's shoe size is 3 1/2 W!!!!!! I seriously think that his feet were that small when he was born. Tomorrow I am going to find his hospital footprint and see how he measures up. The saleslady tried to talk me into buying a half size bigger shoe for Jonah than he really needed so that he had room to grow! As if! I guess that he might just be a little guy! Sammy measured 4 1/2 W, so Jonah can hopefully get Sammy's hand-me-down shoes and we will only have to be buying one pair of shoes every 15 months...because that's how long it will be before they forget what we look like and we can go back!
