We bought all of our garden seeds today and I am so excited! Now I have to do some researching about how to plant a raised bed garden. We will also need a critter fence. Or just Fred.
Fred was our landlord at MSU. He was in his eighties and used to shoot everything that looked at or came near our garden when we were in grad school. He was a crazy old guy!
One time he shot a skunk in his front yard and I swear that it smelled for 5 miles. As soon as you turned off the expressway you were hit with the smell! I can not even explain how strong the smell was. I was so sure that I hit the skunk with my car that I got out and checked under my car when I got home to make sure I wasn't dragging a skunk carcass along.
I used to go over and yell at him about all of his shooting, but he used to say "Oh, that was just a warning shot. I didn't really shoot anything." Uh huh right.
He even tried to deny the skunk shooting, but he knew that I had him dead to rights. His yard smelled for weeks!
Sometimes I would get woken up at 2 in the morning by a gunshot. The next morning I would go over to Fred's house and give him a piece of my mind. But he would pretend that he didn't know what I was talking about and insist that I dreamed the whole incident.
It was enough to drive a person batty. BUT we never had to put up a fence around our garden. We had great produce and hardly ever had anything eaten by animals. So the trade off wasn't bad...
Here we will probably have issues with deer in our garden. We have a groundhog too, but John had a live trap and plans to relocate him shortly. The church up the road is probably wondering why they have a groundhog infestation problem, but I am going to take Fred's lead and pretend that they don't know what they are talking about and insist that they must have dreamed the whole incident.
Now if John were relocating skunks, then that would be a different story altogether...
Now that it is practically summer I am dealing with some seriously messy boys! I can not even begin to explain how dirty the boys get when they are outside this year! Their clothes are filthy. Their faces are brown. And their hands and feet are disgusting. They look like they are trying out for the show "Dirty Jobs".
I am trying to come up with a way to wash the boys off before they come into the house so that they don't track dirt everywhere. This past week I have been carrying each kid upstairs and giving them a quick rinse in the laundry tub before lunch and dinner, but that's a lot of lifting for me! I don't need that!
Did you know that when you look up foot washing stations on Google that you get Bible references for washing the feet like Jesus did? There is a lot of information out there about how to wash feet as a purifying ritual with oils and prayer. Dealing with my boys feet after wearing their crocs outside in the dirt gives me a solid understanding as to why foot washing was so important that it was mentioned in the Bible so often.
I can't imagine dealing with boys that were living in the desert wearing sandals all day! Can you imagine how dirty Jesus and his neighbors feet were? They must have had to wash each others feet several times a day.
Ok boys, after breakfast we will build some sand castles and have a snack. Then we will wash your feet. Then you can play a bit before lunch, but make sure to wash your hands and feet before you come in. After your nap we will have a snack and go play sand tag. After that we will wash your feet. Then dinner and a bath. Then we will read some scrolls and wash your feet again before bed.
That's 5 foot washings in the day of a typical toddler from the old testament!
I am glad that I wasn't a Mom back then!
Anyways, I have been researching outside foot and hand washing stations for kids and reading about foot washing rituals and it seems like an untapped market. Maybe I am the only one that deals with this issue, but I don't think so!
I've started planning....So far I know that my prototype kid washer station needs to have a bottom with bristles to get the ground in dirt off the feet. It may or may not be motion activated?!? There should also be a sink area for hand washing and it should use warm water. Then the whole thing needs to work on a timer so that each kids moves through the station quickly and comes out sparkly clean on the other side. Like a mini car wash for kids.
I would pay a lot of money for a kid washer station. Wouldn't you? Now I just have to figure out what I am going to do with all of that money after my idea takes off!
We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday together today!
We filled some buckets with a few outside toys that the boys could all enjoy and hid Easter eggs full of candy throughout the house. Each egg had one of the boys first initial on them so that there was no fighting. The boys LOVED the egg hunt. Wyatt snuck downstairs first this morning while John and I were still sleeping and checked out all of the egg hiding spots, so he had a huge advantage during the actual hunt.
After sneaking around downstairs for how ever long, Wyatt came upstairs with a full report. "Mom, Dad, the Easter bunny came and left us each a bucket full of toys. The boys and I each got a rocket ship, a net, a bug box, a flashlight, and a package of fruit snacks. Shane got a bag of teddy grahams and a fruit snack in his bucket because the bunny knows that he can't have milk. Also, mine is the pink flashlight. And there are eggs hiding all over the house! I found some in the playroom, the kitchen, the den, and the front hallway. But there are not any upstairs. Everybody has their own letter on their egg so that we don't fight. Isn't that great Mom? Let's wake the boys up. I will get Shane and you can get the boys? Ok Mom? Mom, are you awake yet? Let's go find some eggs."
The boys were pumped and they ran around looking for eggs for about 30 minutes. Then they sat down for breakfast and ate CRAP LOADS of candy. I figured that they only get to enjoy candy in the morning once a year, so why fight it?
After that we packed up some lunches and took the boys hiking at a state park about 35 minutes away. The weather was great and the trail was a lot of fun for everyone!
While the boys napped I got in a nice run outside with Maggie. She needs to lose a few pounds so I am starting a running boot camp for me and her. I am hoping to run outside with her at least 3 times a week after the boys are in bed. She was a little tired after 1 loop today, so we will stick with that until her endurance improves.
Tonight we had Keith over and made the traditional Easter dinner of hamburgers on the grill with finger jello for dessert. It was nice and simple, and best of all we didn't heat the house up cooking a ham all day!
We have had a lot going on the past few weeks....
I am getting ready for our Mothers of Multiples sale next weekend. I have so much stuff to sell this time that I have taken over about half of our basement to get it all organized and labeled. We are selling all of our baby stuff that Shane doesn't need anymore including a lot of the big things that were just taking up valuable space in our attic. Yipee!

I took the boys on an Easter egg hunt at a local farm this morning with my friend Erin and her 4 kids and my friend Kasey's husband Rick and his twin boys. We took a hayride up to the egg patch where we met the Easter bunny and found eggs. Then we rode back to the barn on the wagon for some candy and balloons. I dressed my boys in matching blue striped shirts. Erin dressed her kids (twin boys + 1 boy + 1 infant girl) in matching plaid outfits. And Rick dressed his boys in solid orange shirts.
We heard a lot of people making comments about our clan as we walked by..."Oh, look at all of those boys" "How cute" or "Wow, are they triplets?". Finally Erin decided that when people asked about our group we should say that Rick is the Dad and he is a polygamist with three wives who all happened to have twin boys. We had to dress each group of kids differently so that he could keep them all straight!
The boys were so dirty when I got home that I made them get cleaned off in the driveway before they came in the house. I filled up a bucket with soapy water and handed each boy a washcloth to get their face, hands, and feet all cleaned up. At the end of it they were all soaking wet, happy and clean.

Potty talk is still in full swing at our house with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Everything smells like "stinker poopies". Everything tastes like "stinker poopies". Everything looks like "stinker poopies". I assumed that by week 3 of potty talk we would have moved on to more advanced poop vocabulary, but the word "poop" can still elicit hysterical laughter when inserted into any sentanance. For example, "Mom, is it almost time to poop to school?" (uncontrollable laughter). "Are we going to ride in the poop?" (fall on the floor laughter?). "I see a poop car." (peeing in pants laughing).
I keep telling the boys "No more potty talk"! Then the other day I heard Wyatt tell Sam and Jonah "Boys, no bathroom words".
*********************************************************
It was almost 90 degrees here today. Our house is so hot upstairs that we had to turn on the air conditioning to get the temperature below 80 degrees inside! Every year it seems like we have to turn on our air conditioning earlier and earlier, but this year may be a Rodgers Family record!
I missed my anniversary. Last week was my three year blogiversary! I have been doing this blog for 3 years. It is hard to believe! Sometimes I look back through old posts and see how little the boys looked or read a story about something cute that happened and I am really glad that I am still blogging. It is such a nice way for me to get some perspective on my life and appreciate how lucky I really am! So, I am going to keep writing about us and keep telling stories about the boys because I know that three years from now my little guys won't be so little anymore. They are growing up fast and I can't think of a better way preserve our memories than this blog. So, buckle up...the ride continues!
My sweet little Shane has already figured out how to tease his big brothers. Every morning the boys are allowed to watch one tv show while they eat breakfast. They spend time trying to figure out what show they all want to watch and there is usually a lot of negotiation involved. Shane is not involved in the tv show- decision process. Apparently he is frustrated with his lack of influence in this particular area. So, every day this week while the boys are engrossed in their tv show, Shane has crawled over to the tv, quietly placed his finger on the power switch, turned around looked directly at the boys, smiled, and turned the tv off! Then he laughs hysterically while they all FREAK out! I have a feeling that our baby boy is going to grow up to be quite a character!
(BTW...check out the size of Sammy's hands in this picture!!!!)
I have finally completed our calendar for summer. It is a monumental task when I have a daily activity already planned for us from now until the end of August. I can't even begin to tell you how relieved that makes me feel!
Somehow after I had 3 kids (and then 4 kids) I realized the importance of us getting out of the house every single day. And we have done that....pretty much every since day for the last 2 and a half years unless somebody is sick. It helps us all maintain some level of sanity and gives us something to look forward to each and every day.
Yet the thought of summer rolling around and having Wyatt out of preschool home every single day makes me start to panic. I need to have a lot more material to fill up the entire summer when school doesn't fill up three days a week. So, I have been writing, looking stuff up, reading, and planning for almost 3 weeks to get it all planned out. And I am done!
John gets stressed out when I plan it all. He likes the idea of not having anything to do. He thinks that we can do whatever we want whenever we want if nothing is planned out. He doesn't realize that if it is not planned out, then we won't do anything! We can't be a spur-of-the-moment family when we are planning for 6 people! We will stay home and the kids will get bored. Then the kids will get into trouble. They will take all of the mulch out of the planters and load it up in their wagons and dump it in the garage. Then they will drive past the van with their bikes and scratch all of the vehicles. They will turn on he hose and start filling up buckets of water and mix it with mulch and dump it on their toys and their shoes. They will throw rocks and move all of Daddy's tools. We have been down this road before.... It's not a fun trip!
The funny thing is that one of my friends just had her 4th kid and she called me a few weeks ago to see what I had planned for summer because she was starting to work on her summer plans too. She complained that her husband wasn't interested in planning anything and she needed some ideas! Interesting huh?
Having a 4th kid is just the motivation that I needed to get myself organized. Now when the boys are out enjoying themselves this summer they can thank Shane for helping motivate me to get it all planned! Thanks Shane!
I am leaving for the weekend. It will my first solo vacation since Shane was born. The last time that I went on vacation without kids was about 2 years ago! I am in desperate need of a break!
I am going to Washington DC with my sister and my mom. Al and I are going to run in the National Half Marathon on Saturday morning. The course is run around Capital Loop. We will get to see all of the wonderful monuments and attractions while we are running. I am very excited!
John is going to be in charge of the boys this weekend. He will probably do a lot of running himself. I have a feeling that they will have a lot of fun without me!
The pool was a lot of fun today! I could have taken a book and sat by the side of the pool reading...it was that easy! The new life jackets that I got for the kids are perfect.
They all got in the water and took off swimming like little fish without a fear in the world! They were jumping off the side of the pool by the time we left. It was a great morning and we are thrilled with our new pool!
In other exciting news, we have entered the potty talk phase. Wyatt has been testing the waters lately, but he is still pretty bad at potty talk. At lunch today he said "spinning poopies" and both Jonah and Sam laughed so hard that they had juice come out of their noses. I couldn't help laughing myself! Then on the way home I was entertained with "stinky van" insert hysterical laughter, "stinky vacation" laugh laugh "stinky car seat" ha ha ha and on and on and on. It is a phase that will probably get real old...real fast, but for now it is still pretty funny!
I bought a pool membership for us at a local hotel. I have been researching the whole pool thing for quite a while and finally decided to make a decision. I like the hotel pool over other options for several reasons. First of all, it is heated to about 85 degrees so we will not be freezing our kahunas off. Secondly, the hours are fantastic. They open at 5 am and close at 10 pm, so we have a lot of flexibility. We also have access to the fitness equipment during those hours so John and I could go back and work out in the evenings if we choose. Last of all, the pool does not have a lifeguard on duty. It sounds weird, but I think that we will do better without all of the rules and somebody freaking out about all of the kids. I need the flexibility to let my kids eat on the deck if they get hungry. I also need to be able to have Shane in the stroller on the deck since he will likely not enjoy being in the pool for hours on end. We need to be able to bring our own life jackets and not be forced into wearing something new and different. And finally, I want the ability to let my kids bring some pool toys with them to entertain themselves.
So, we are giving it a shot tomorrow morning. Me and all the boys. It should be fun. If anybody misbehaves I plan to pack up and leave. After all, we have a membership and can go back on Tuesday or Wednesday or for as many times as it takes to get it right!
In other news, Grandma and Grandpa headed back to Michigan this morning. We are really going to miss them. Shane waved bye-bye to them all by himself as they were pulling out of the driveway, but I'm not sure if they saw it! The kids were sad for a while this morning so John took Wyatt and Sam to The Depot and Jonah, Shane, and I stayed home and made cookies.
I have a great new cookie recipe that doesn't contain milk so Shane can eat them. It also doesn't have eggs in it either so Cameron might like them too! Shane and Jonah ate about 30 cookies between the two of them just after they came out of the oven while they were still warm. They were happy boys!
The boys usually have a rough day 24 hours after our visitors leave. They get used to the one-on-one attention and have trouble going back to the pack mentality. So, if my plan works the boys will be so distracted by all of the fun that they are having swimming that they will forget to be sad about Grandma and Grandpa leaving. If that doesn't work I will have to go with Plan B....duct tape and some rope!

Grandma Kathie and Grandpa Bill are visiting us for a few days. The kids have really enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa.
They took Sam and Wyatt to Costco yesterday. I stayed home with Jonah and Shane. Grandma said that she ended up with a few more groceries than she expected by the time they got up to the checkout because the boys were covertly adding stuff to her cart. They sure are sneaky little guys.
Sammy has especially enjoyed having Grandma and Grandpa around. He loves an audience. The bigger the better. Mark my words, he will be on stage someday. I would be shocked if he does not have a profession that somehow involves "performing"! Seriously!
Sammy started calling himself "Bobby" a couple of months ago. If you ask him his name he will say he is Bobby and he is 4 years old. He says it with such conviction that the other day a woman at the gym told me that she thought that Jonah and Sam were twins, and didn't realize that they weren't. I said no they ARE twins. Then she said "Well, that's weird because Sam told me that he is 4 years old and Jonah is only 3 years old"!
John and I have really enjoyed having Kathie and Bill visit too! They have watched the boys each night after they are in bed so that John and I could go for a run together outside. It has been beautiful weather and I am loving spending so much time outside. Spring is almost here!
That reminds me...I am starting to figure out what I want to plant in our garden this year. I am convinced that a raised bed garden is the way to go. So far I have beans, cucumbers, jalapenos, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, and pumpkins on our list. Maybe some herbs too. It is going to be so much fun to grow my own stuff with the kids!
I am also going to have to figure out some kind of fence to put around the garden since we have tons of deer in the yard. That may be a little tricky. I will have to see if Bobby has any ideas.
We survived.
We all got it....within 7 hours of each other and it wasn't pretty.
John lost 7 pounds and I lost 5 pounds in 2 days!
Every towel that we own has been washed in the last 48 hours.
Every bathroom and floor in our house has been scrubbed in the last 48 hours.
Every bed sheet in our house has been replaced in the last 48 hours.
The boys drank gatorade and sprite for the first time in their lives.
The boys all got to sleep on our bathroom floor together for the first (and hopefully only) time ever.
I went to bed before 7:30pm for the first time since I was about 5 years old!
We are happy to be feeling good again.
Getting sick together is not a great way to bond, but feeling better together is priceless!
I have a bad feeling.... Sam and Shane have a stomach bug. Diarrhea and vomiting. Yipee! My stomach is starting to feel a little funny and John just told me he feels the same way. So, if you don't hear from us for a while we are probably laying in the bathroom unable to hear the phone over all of the puking!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot...we are babysitting Keith's puppy for the next 5 days too!
When you live in Alaska like we do, you don't let the cold weather bother you! The weather can't stop us from enjoying our favorite outdoor activities!
For example on Monday I took the kids hiking down a trail in the woods through the snow. They didn't run ahead of me and try and get lost either. No, they marched right in front of me down the trail crying and begging to be carried and go home. They fell down and refused to move. I pretended not to hear them, and talked about how wonderful it was to get exercise and look at nature at the same time. Then I threatened to spank everyone and send them to bed if they didn't walk and then we went home. Some day I know that they will say "Mom, remember how you used to take us on hikes through the snow when we were little? That was so fun!". And I will say "That's what Eskimo mothers do."
Today we got the bikes out and went on a little bike ride. The kids are getting better at riding their bikes this year. Wyatt is a speed demon. I am going to look into attaching a shock seat to his bike to reign him in when he gets too far ahead.
Sam likes to crash his bike into stuff on purpose. Then he says "Whoa, big crash!". He drives from one snow drift to another crashing away. I have to keep saying "Sam, look where you are going! Pay attention!". Future Nascar driver maybe?
Jonah is not a biker. Or a hiker. He would still ride in a stroller if I let him. I made him ride his bike today and he cried and cried. Then I had to push him 75% of the time. He crashed 2 times by accident. On a tricycle. In the middle of the road! Geez, I hope that he is book smart!
This week we also ventured out to visit the farmer at the end of the road when he was plowing his field spreading "smelly dirt". He let the kids climb up onto his tractor and pretend to drive. Then he told us that if we come back in the spring he will drive them around the field! The kids were pumped. I already wrote it on the calendar!
Monday was Home Depot Day. We spent the morning at Home Depot riding the display lawn mowers that were just unpacked. Those brand new mowers were just itching to be ridden by three little boys. Thankfully the keys are stored in a separate location or we might have been on the 6 o clock news.
Wyatt wants a John Deere 54 inch deck 7 speed riding mower for Easter in his Easter basket. The boys would like the same. I told them that we will put it on the list and see what happens... cuz you never know. I am sure that the Easter bunny has made some improvements since I was a kid!
I took the kids sledding yesterday. There is a huge hill in the back of our subdivision. Last time we went sledding there it was so deep that nobody could even walk. The snow was up to the kids chests. I ended up carrying them all up the hill and decided that it was too much work so we went home.
Yesterday the snow was only up to the kids ankles. They got up the hill and Wyatt wanted to go first. Let me tell you, when the snow is smashed down and has a hard crust on the top, you go really fast. I mean really fast. You can even shoot right off the bank next to the road and end up underneath your van. That is kinda funny though. We can laugh about that now. Because now we now not to park the van right there anymore. You learn a lot of things sledding with Eskimo Mom.
Tomorrow we may hit one of the local parks and see how hard it is to use the playground equipment in the snow. It will be challenging. It will be kinda of like an olympic event. I am sure that there will be some issues, but we will learn something, and best of all the kids will look back someday and say "Mom, remember how you used to take us to the park in the snow?" And I will say "That's what Eskimo Mothers do boys!"
John spent all day painting the twins room. He got all of the furniture out of the room, patched all of the holes, taped off all of the trim, painted the room, let it dry, painted it again, removed all of the tape, and put all of the furniture back.
I spent the entire day with the kids! I took the kids out for 3 hours this morning, fed them lunch, came home, sat with them all in Wyatt's room until they fell asleep, threw dinner into the crockpot, packed up Shane, went to Costco and the library, came home, went to visit my friends new baby, came home, ate dinner, and then put the kids to bed.
I don't know who is more tired, me or John!?!?! But I do know that we love the new paint. John wants to paint Wyatt's room next weekend. I don't know if I am ready to do it all over again though....
John is going to paint the twins room in the morning. I am a little nervous about a few things...
1. I liked the color Holiday Road-baby blue which is the third color down on the paint color sheet, but John likes Tropical Pool which is the second one down. He went and bought the paint tonight and got Tropical Pool. I hope that it is not too light!
2. I am going to have to entertain everybody tomorrow while John paints! Do you think that entertain means hog tie?
3. The twins will have to take their naps somewhere other than their room tomorrow. I am hoping that it will be across the street at somebody else's house! I would like to go on record as saying that this alternate nap spot is going to be a BAD idea. A very bad idea!
4. Wyatt is now convinced that we are going to paint his room pink and I am not sure that we are going to be able to talk him out of it!
*********************************
In other news Wyatt is keeping things interesting in his preschool class. Apparently last week as he was playing puppets with his teacher he made the puppet's mouth move and had it say "Hello, my name is pissed off!". I can only imagine the look on his teacher's face when she heard that gem!
I finally got some pictures of Jonah and Sam that I like enough to use for their 3 year pictures! These pictures are going to go up in their bedroom. John and I are in the process of picking out paint to redecorate their room soon and I am looking forward to giving it some personal touches.
This past year has been, without a doubt, the most wonderful year of my life! It is hard to imagine that a single baby boy could bring so much love and happiness into a family already full of boys! But Shane has exceeded my expectations one million percent!
It is bittersweet to see my baby boy crawl from room to room chasing his brothers and laughing as they try and run away from him. But it breaks my heart to hear him cry miserably when he can't find them.
I can't believe that, despite owning a single tooth, Shane completely refuses to eat any more baby food and wants to eat "big people food". The little vulture has even figured out that if he hangs out under the kitchen table he might get to eat some of his brothers scraps.
I am in awe of how much Shane loves his big brothers and of how much they love him back! He is never without a toy or a friendly face to smile with. These 4 boys have already forged an amazing brotherly bond with each other that will serve them well in life!
I am so thankful for each and every one of my boys, but I am especially proud of my little guy! He is such a special gift. He has the most amazing personality and spirit. He is everything that his Daddy and I could have ever hoped for in our last child, and it doesn't matter how many birthday's he has....he will always be my baby!
Today was the perfect day. I slept in until 7:45 am! It doesn't sound like sleeping in, I know, but I will take that any day over a 6am wake up call to "wipe my butt"! I have told John on more that one occasion that we should video tape Wyatt at 6:30 am. He practically launches himself out of bed. He talks and talks and talks about nothing and everything. But best of all he NEVER stops moving. It is like waking up in the middle of a fire drill. There's commotion, chaos, and lots of talking and yelling! My plan is to save the video until Wyatt is in high school and wants to stay out late at night and then sleep in on the weekends...then I will slip a tv into his bedroom and play the video at 6am and then ask him to wipe my butt over and over again until he decides to wake up! That's just good parenting!
Then John took the boys outside to play while I cleaned the house. And I really cleaned the house...from top to bottom!
After lunch I went on a run outside with my ipod and my new running watch. It was great to be outside in the sun without any kids getting some exercise in the middle of the day! My sister and I are going to meet for a weekend and run in a half marathon in Washington DC in March. My Mom is going to come and be our cheering section. So, I am putting the final touches on my training so that I don't fall flat on my face in front of the White House!
Then John made dinner while I entertained the kids. It was a spicy Chicken Jumbalaya that was awesome!
Everyone was in bed by 7:30pm!
And it doesn't get much better than that!
Grandpa and Grandma are here for a visit. It is nice to have some extra hands around to help out with the boys. I am not sure who is more tired though?!? The boys were in bed by 6pm tonight. Grandpa and Grandma both took naps today but were still in bed by 10pm!
Um yeah, another 10 inches of the white stuff! Ms Donna called during dinner tonight to let me know that there will not be any school for Wyatt again tomorrow. They haven't had school all week! I managed not to swear directly into the phone, but I must admit to losing my grip on reality for at least 15 minutes afterwards!
I verbally assaulted anyone within earshot! John made the mistake of laughing briefly and then quickly fled for his life! It wasn't pretty.
I have a game plan for tomorrow though I think. We are going to start with some shoveling. Then we will move on to sledding in the back of the subdivision. Next is cookie decorating. Then lunch.
Then there is NAP TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This will last until approximately 5pm.
Shortly thereafter, John will arrive home and I will go somewhere! Anywhere! Alone. The End.
Jonah and Sam have a stomach bug. They puked all morning. All over the place. It was chaotic.
Wyatt went to preschool. My friend drove him and then ended up keeping him at her house all afternoon so that I could take care of the twins.
Shane was locked in the playroom for most of the day. Because all he wanted to do was find piles of puke and crawl through them!
I did 4 loads of laundry today and cleaned the entire downstairs floor on my hands and knees.
I am exhausted. I am going to bed! I am hoping that everybody is feeling better tomorrow...especially me!
Tonight after all of the boys were in bed I heard somebody talking upstairs. So I quietly went up the stairs and listened outside the boys doors. The sound was coming from Wyatt's room. When I listened carefully at the door I could tell that he was singing...."February Second...It's time to come out!" over and over again. It must be something that he learned at school because I have never taught him that song. Then as I listened he started singing another song..."Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday , Sunday" to the tune of 10 little indians. And then he went back and forth between the two songs for almost an hour trying to stay awake. His little singing voice was actually pretty cute....it almost made me forget how many times he was in time out today!
We had kind of a rough day. It started out with the kids throwing a bunch of beanbags into the toilet. The toilet was filled with pee. Yummy! Luckily, I caught them before anything got flushed down, but I knew that our day was going to be super fun!!!
Then I drove with all of the boys to check out a pool that I was thinking about joining. We all got out and went in to meet with Sally, the membership person. Unfortunately, Sally doesn't work there. I got mixed up and wrote down the wrong place. We drove to the wrong place and I had no idea where I was supposed to go. We missed our appointment by a long shot! Of course I left the correct paper at home, so we may not be joining that pool after all!
We also went grocery shopping this morning. Wyatt was OBSESSED with the lottery machine at the front of the store and harassed everybody that came in to buy lotto tickets. He wanted them to buy him tickets or let him hold their tickets or see if they won any money. He did not believe that he couldn't get tickets by putting money in just like a gumball machine, so finally I took him up to the customer service counter and made him ask the people there how old a person has to be to buy lotto tickets. When they told him 18 years old, he finally gave up his mission to win the Pennsylvania State Lottery!
At the grocery store they were giving out samples of Doritos. I let the kids each get a little cup while we were walking around the store and they were all happy. Then I happened to look down at Shane in his stroller and he was chewing on something. I screamed at the kids "did you give him any Doritos?". Wyatt said that he gave Shane a "little piece" and I freaked out (the poor sample lady almost croaked). So, I frantically pulled everything out of his mouth and got it all out while screaming "Oh My God....Please don't have swallowed this" over and over! There were a few tense moments while I reviewed my epi pen instructions, but there must not have been any milk proteins in the chips because he didn't have a reaction. That was fun!
Later in the grocery store I had an old man come up to me, look at all of the boys, and jokingly say "What do you do with all of your spare time?". I said "sleep"! But I really wanted to say "drink...especially after today"!
We went to Chick Fil A for lunch. It was supposed to be our breakfast out this morning, but I was too mad after the beanbags so I told the kids that we were not going out for breakfast. Lunch went well. The kids love eating out at restaurants and I love not having to clean up after them! It was a nice ending to an otherwise tough morning.
Tomorrow is a school day. I figured out what pool we need to visit. We are not going grocery shopping. And we are eating lunch at home. So I expect to have an very uneventful morning tomorrow.....as if that could ever happen!
